About Paul Hamlyn
My interest in photography came about by accident, some
twenty years ago, after
I had purchased
a video
camera for
£500 from a local
electrical store.
Keen to try it out I
decided to take it to my employer's
annual Xmas
party.

A few days
later, after some of my colleagues
had seen the finished product, news spread
that the
video was
definitely worth a look and people started to come up and
ask if they could have a copy for which
they were happy to cover
the costs. It
wasn't long before I was being asked to cover
Christenings and other events.
When I became more experienced
I filmed one of my relatives weddings, but
it
wasn't until 1993 when I approached the Editor at the
Cornish and Devon Post Series about videoing
their Charity Gala at Penstowe Manor that I
got my lucky
break and turned my hobby into a full-time
career.
I have not looked back since!
